Hi everyone, and thank you for visiting. Many of you already know Zaki, but for those who don’t, he is a 36 year-old, fun-loving basketball star who tends to put a smile on the face of all those around him. Leave it to Zak to make you cry tears of laughter even in the worst situations. Now, however, it’s time for us to be there for him.
Recently, we received the news that a small amount of Zak’s leukemia has returned. He has started immunotherapy, but the best option for him to become cancer-free long-term is to have a bone marrow transplant. For this to happen, he needs to find a match. This is where you can help. The bone marrows with the highest chances of being a match come from people of similar ethnic backgrounds, and currently Afghans/Central Asians, South Asians, and Middle Easterners have the lowest representation in the registry. To be a part of the solution, and possibly be a match for Zak, all you would need to do is a submit a quick and easy cheek-swab for testing.
